Alatri's Cyclopean Walls are built from massive stone blocks — some weighing over 30 tons — fitted without mortar, predating Rome by centuries. Nobody knows exactly who built them or how. The Porta Maggiore gate, with its perfectly fitted polygonal stones, makes you stand there thinking "how?" for a good 10 minutes. Welcome to Ciociaria.
