Lake Garda — Torbole/Malcesine
Must-DoIconicItaly's wind sport capital — the Peler blows from the north in the morning, the Ora thermal picks up in the afternoon. Consistent and strong (15–25 knots). Note: the lake is surrounded by mountains, so conditions change fast. Not ideal for beginners.
Lo Stagnone, Sicily
Must-DoFamilyA shallow lagoon near Marsala — knee-deep water extending 800m from shore. The absolute best spot in Italy for learning. Consistent afternoon thermal winds, flat water, and multiple schools. Also beautiful salt-pan scenery.
Porto Pollo, Sardinia
Must-DoOn the strait between Sardinia and Corsica — Mistral funnels through creating strong, reliable wind. Flat water on the lagoon side, waves on the open-sea side. A genuine world-class spot that draws international riders.
Gizzeria, Calabria
Hidden GemCalabria's best kite beach — thermal winds are very consistent in summer, and the Hang Loose Beach club has created a community hub with schools, events, and a flat-water lagoon for beginners.
Marina di Grosseto, Tuscany
FamilyA wide sandy beach on the Tuscan Maremma coast with good wind from April to September. Less known than the big spots, so uncrowded. Several schools for beginners. Combine with a Tuscan holiday.
Our pick
Lo Stagnone for beginners — nowhere in Italy (or Europe) is better to learn. Porto Pollo for experienced riders wanting strong wind and beautiful setting.
