2. Hotel Raphael Terrace (Largo Febo 2, near Piazza Navona). Ivy-covered rooftop, 360° view including St. Peter's and the Vittoriano. €14-16 cocktails. Walk-in possible at off-hours (4-6pm).
3. Il Palazzetto (Vicolo del Bottino 8, above Spanish Steps). Wine bar overlooking the Steps and Piazza di Spagna. €12-15 glass of wine. Reserve terrace via phone. The most romantic rooftop for couples.
4. Minerva Roof Garden (Grand Hotel de la Minerve, Piazza della Minerva 69). Overlooking the Pantheon dome from behind. €16-20 cocktails. Dress smart. The Pantheon's rotunda from this angle is something only 50 people per night see.
5. Aroma at Palazzo Manfredi (Via Labicana 125). Colosseum filling your entire view — close enough to see individual arches. Michelin-starred restaurant + bar. €16-22 cocktails. Book dinner months ahead; bar is easier but still reserve.
6. Terrazza dei Papi (Hotel Atlante Star, Via Vitelleschi 34). St. Peter's dome so close you could almost touch it. €12-15 cocktails. Less famous = more available than #1-5.
7. Lanificio 159 Rooftop (Via Pietralata 159a). Ex-factory in Pietralata (northeast, 15 min taxi). Not a view bar — a vibe bar. DJ sets, art events, Rome's creative scene. €8-10 cocktails. The locals' rooftop.
8. Salotto42 (Piazza di Pietra 42). Not technically a rooftop but the view of Temple of Hadrian's columns at night from the outdoor seats is as dramatic as any terrace. €12-14 cocktails.
9-12: The Court (Hotel de Russie — secret garden bar, celebrity sightings, €16), Cielo Terrace (Hotel de la Ville, top of Spanish Steps — newest luxury rooftop, €18-22), Hotel Forum rooftop (Via Tor de' Conti 25 — Forum + Colosseum panorama, €14), Circus Roof Garden (Via della Vetrina 15 — Piazza Navona area, less known, €12).
