Italy's "Yosemite" — a glacial valley with granite walls offering multi-pitch trad and sport climbing. The Precipizio degli Asteroidi (Asteroid Precipice) is legendary. Boulder problems in the valley floor too.

The Gran Paradiso national park has enormous granite walls — some of the biggest multi-pitch routes in the Alps. The Caporal sector is the most accessible. Serious mountain climbing in a wild setting.

💡 Pro tip: Italian climbing grades use the French system. Most crags have good bolt protection. Carry a 70m rope for Finale and Arco — some pitches are long.
⚠️ Heads up: Summer in Finale and Sardinia is too hot for climbing — stick to October–May for south-facing crags. Arco works year-round thanks to altitude and aspect variety.

Our pick

Arco for the complete climbing holiday — every grade, every style, great town. Finale for winter sun. Sardinia for serious sport climbers.
