1. Barolo

The village that names the wine. WiMu museum in the Falletti castle (€9). Tastings at Marchesi di Barolo, Bartolo Mascarello. Pop: 700.

The Belvedere viewpoint: Nebbiolo vines in every direction, Alps behind. Cantina Comunale (€5 tasting). Pop: 2,700.

3. Neive

One of the prettiest Langhe villages. Barbaresco zone. Fewer visitors than Barolo. Pop: 3,400.
