Poetto Beach is 8km of white sand and turquoise water 15 minutes from the historic center — a city beach that rivals any in the Mediterranean. The Museo Archeologico Nazionale has the most important collection of Nuragic civilization artifacts outside Barumini. And the food — fregola con arselle, malloreddus, bottarga di muggine, porceddu — is pure Sardinia.

Parco di Molentargius: A salt lagoon between Cagliari and Quartu — 20,000+ greater flamingos live here year-round (one of Europe's largest colonies). Free access to walking/cycling paths. Best viewing: the Bellarosa observation point (binoculars useful but not essential — the flamingos are 50-100m away). The contrast of pink flamingos with the urban skyline behind is surreal.
