Castelluccio di Norcia โ€” the mountain village at 1,452m where every June the plain below becomes a wildflower carpet so vivid that drone pilots weep

The Piana Grande is Italy's most spectacular seasonal landscape. Every year between late May and mid-July, the high plain below Castelluccio erupts in wildflowers โ€” poppies, cornflowers, chamomile, lentil blossoms, rapeseed โ€” creating color bands across the valley floor. The village was devastated by the 2016 earthquake but the Fiorita blooms regardless, and the reconstruction continues stubbornly at 1,452m. Umbria → · Sibillini →
