14 days is the magic number for Italy. Enough time for the golden triangle (Rome, Florence, Venice) PLUS the south (Naples, Amalfi) PLUS one "wild card" — Milan's Last Supper, Cinque Terre's hiking, Tuscany's wine roads, or Bologna's food. Two weeks lets you experience the CONTRAST that makes Italy unique: the efficiency of Milan vs the chaos of Naples, the art-density of Florence vs the beach-beauty of the Amalfi Coast, the canal-silence of Venice vs the street-noise of Rome.
