MAST (Manifattura di Arti, Sperimentazione e Tecnologia) is a privately funded cultural center built by the Coesia industrial group in 2013. It's free. It's beautiful. The quality rivals anything at the Photographers' Gallery in London or FOAM in Amsterdam. Morandi Collection: A selection of paintings and etchings by Giorgio Morandi (1890-1964) — bottles, vases, and boxes arranged in compositions of extraordinary subtlety. His palette of muted grays, beiges, and browns makes every other painting look loud.
The building: Contemporary industrial architecture (Studio Labics, 2013) — glass, steel, and concrete with a large outdoor area. The MAST restaurant is open to the public and serves high-quality lunch at reasonable prices (€15-20 for a full meal).
