The basics

Olbia Costa Smeralda (OLB) serves northeast Sardinia — the Costa Smeralda (luxury), the Gallura interior (authentic), and the Maddalena archipelago (paradise). Strong summer schedules with budget and charter flights. 4km from Olbia center.

Getting to Olbia

ARST bus 2: €1.30, 10-15 min to Olbia center/port.

Taxi: €10-15, 5-10 min. Barely worth calling — it's very close.

To Costa Smeralda

Porto Cervo: 30 min by car, no public transport (taxi ~€50-60). Baja Sardinia: 25 min. Porto Rotondo: 15 min. See our Costa Smeralda transfer guide.

To the Maddalena archipelago

Drive to Palau (35 min) or take the ARST bus (€3.50, 40 min), then Delcomar ferry to La Maddalena island (€6-10, 20 min). The archipelago has Sardinia's most stunning beaches — Spiaggia Rosa, Cala Coticcio, Budelli.

💡 Rent a car. Northeast Sardinia without a car is possible (buses exist) but painful. The beaches, the Costa Smeralda viewpoints, the inland Gallura villages — all require wheels. Book well ahead for summer; cars genuinely sell out in July-August.
