Perugia Airport Guide (PEG) 2026

Umbria's tiny airport โ€” a handful of Ryanair flights to the "green heart of Italy."

Plan your Italy trip โ†’

The basics

Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi (PEG) is one of Italy's smallest airports. Ryanair operates to London Stansted and a few seasonal routes. 12km from Perugia center. Named after Umbria's most famous saint (Assisi is 25 min away).

Getting to Perugia

Bus: Sulga bus to Perugia center (โ‚ฌ3-4, 20-30 min). Limited to flight times.

Taxi: โ‚ฌ25-30, 15-20 min.

Realistic access to Umbria

PEG has very limited flights. Most visitors reach Umbria via: Rome Fiumicino (train to Orvieto 70 min, Perugia 2.5h), Florence (train to Perugia 2h), or Bologna (train to Perugia 2-2.5h). If PEG has your route, great โ€” it saves hours. If not, don't force it.

๐Ÿ’ก Umbria needs a car. Perugia, Assisi, Orvieto, Spoleto, Gubbio, Norcia, Todi, Montefalco โ€” the hill towns are the attraction, and they're connected by winding roads through green valleys. Rent a car at PEG or at the larger Rome/Florence airports and drive in. The driving itself is part of the Umbrian experience.
