The Villa Romana del Casale contains the most extensive collection of Roman floor mosaics in the world — 3,500m² of polychrome mosaics from the 4th century AD, preserved under a mudslide that sealed them for 1,700 years. The "Bikini Girls" — 10 female athletes in two-piece outfits exercising with dumbbells, throwing discus, running, and playing ball — are the most famous, but they're one room of 40+. The Great Hunt corridor stretches 60 meters with a continuous mosaic depicting the capture and transport of wild animals (tigers, elephants, rhinos, ostriches) from Africa to Rome for the amphitheatre games. Grande Caccia (Great Hunt, Corridor): 60m × 5m — a cinematic narrative in stone. Left end: Africa (hunters capturing leopards with bait, loading elephants onto ships). Center: the sea crossing (ships with exotic animals). Right end: Rome/amphitheatre (animals entering the arena). The detail: individual feathers on ostriches, muscle definition on tigers, sailors' faces showing effort.
